Gaston Naessens And His 714X: Is the Anti Cancer Drug Naessens Developed Cure or Quackery?

The anti-cancer drug 714X has been around for some time, largely unheralded and quietly used by a small group of open minded and courageous physicians. Along with other alternative cancer treatments, it has a rocky and colorful history. Developed by Gaston Naessens, a Quebec biologist, 714X is merely a bi-product of some fundamental discoveries made by Naessens that relate not only to cancer and AIDS, but to the very nature of life itself. And that is precisely where Gaston Naessens overstepped his bounds. He proposed such a potential leap in medicine, such a paradigm busting science, that if he is ever acknowledged to be correct, biologists, as well as many medical practitioners, can throw away their textbooks

Whenever a departure from the generally accepted norm is proposed, those who are comfortably established within their discipline have a tendency to react with ferocious fervor in opposition to any threats to their authority. It’s a matter of ego, of position, and often, of insecurity. So they’ll go to great lengths to discredit any new ideas that oppose their own, well aired views. They lost little time in implementing the destruction of the upstart, Gaston Naessens.

Naessens ideas were so far reaching that vigorous skepticism was to be expected. That in itself was healthy. It is as it should be. But the fury of the attacks on him was mind boggling. In 1964 he was literally driven out of France, his homeland, all because another of his drugs, G.N.24 had helped thousands whom conventional medicine had failed

Naessens emigrated to Montreal, Canada where he was able to continue his work, with the help of the McDonald Stewart Foundation. Inevitably of course, scientific revolutionary that he was, he came to the attention of the Medical Corporation of Quebec. Feeling threatened, and determined to maintain the status quo, its director, Dr Augustin Roy, brought all his guns to bear in an intensive campaign to discredit him.

In May of 1989, Naessens was arrested without preliminaries, thrown into a filthy jail cell and charged with negligent homicide and practicing medicine without a license. Gaston Naessens was looking at a life sentence and Dr Roy was delighted by his success in removing a threat to his position. But he wasn’t counting on public opinion.

Dr Roy, in his own egocentric vacuum, had failed to recognize the public support that Naessens had steadily acquired. Massive demonstrations took place and international and celebrity support were unprecedented. Ultimately, Gaston Naessens was found innocent of all charges.

After the trial, patients benefiting covertly from 714X successfully pressured Health and Welfare Canada to allow open distribution of the drug under the Emergency Drug Relief Program. Since then thousands of prescriptions have been written by open minded Canadian doctors.

Here in the U.S., the opposition to 714X continues unabated. In 1992 the USFDA banned the importation of 714X for any use whatever, raided the offices of a Rochester New York company that was attempting to educate the public about it, and ultimately engineered the imprisonment of its principal officer, Charles Pixley.

Open minded and courageous alternative practitioners have used their collective ingenuity to find sources for 714X. So the drug is yet another weapon in the growing arsenal against cancer that has nothing in common with the chemo abomination; that is, it cures without killing the patient. Gaston Naessens has succeeded in disrupting the comfortable conventions of the past and caused the established authorities a supreme headache by compelling them to rethink their entire approaches to the treatment of, not only cancer, but nearly all other diseases as well.

This will never do. Change this radical is always resisted with all the ordinance the opposition can muster and the battle lines are drawn. Gaston Naessens is destined to remain hidden in obscurity or reviled as a quack for the foreseeable future, until one day, the dawn, which can never be held back, will break on a new day.

Today there are about 400 cancer treatments in general use by alternative practitioners. Which one is right for any individual can be a matter of serious conjecture. If you have cancer, it would be unwise to select any alternative treatment on the strength of the enthusiastic claims of anyone, regardless of how well meaning. An experienced alternative provider, or at least a very knowledgeable “cancer coach” is an essential player in the contest between cancer and wellness. Anyone with cancer is in no position to go it alone.

STA-478, A New Skin Cancer Drug Treatment

There is a new skin cancer treatment that is causing a huge buzz. Huge enough that two major Drug makers, GlaxoSmithKline PLC and Synta Pharmaceuticals Corporation will be collaborating on the development of an exciting and very promising new skin cancer drug treatment. This drug treatment has been shown to aid in even Stage 1V melanoma, which kills 70 per cent of its victims within one year

Named STA-4783, this is a new, injectable drug candidate that kills cancer cells by overloading cancerous cells with oxygen. Since cancer cells have a much lower tolerance for oxygen than non cancerous cell do, this causes them to self-destruct. This is a new category of anti cancer therapy, with remarkable potential.

In layman’s terms, STA-4783 raises the level of oxygen inside of the cancer cells. Cancer cells can not tolerate as much oxygen as normal cells, and this drug elevates the oxygen inside the cancer cell, and this causes the cell to pass the critical breading point, It then undergoes apoptosis, or programmed cell death. STA has little or no effect upon normal non-cancerous cells.

The fact that this anti cancer strategy can differentiate between the healthy and unhealthy cells targeting only the cancer cells is why scientists are so excited and are hopeful that this treatment will be successful in treating a broad range of cancers

In a double blind study, it was found that STA-4783 when used in moderate doses with Taxol (or paclitaxel), will double the progression free survival in Stage 1V melanoma as compared with Taxol along.

Melanoma is a very deadly skin cancer once it has spread past its site of origin. In Stage 1V melanoma, the cancer has spread all through the body, and the survival rate of people with Stage 1V metastic melanoma is 7-10 months. Since there are very few drugs that are useful for people with advanced skin cancer, this is an important breakthrough.

Cancer Drug Shortages: A Reason To Discover Alternative Cancer Treatments

Yet another reason to discover alternative cancer treatments.

Early in 2011, there’s an indication of shortages in some drugs in the North American pharmaceutical market. Hospitals and pharmacists are seeing an ever-increasing trend in the frequency of these shortages. Manufacturers offer several reasons for this including shortages in raw materials, manufacturing problems, tougher regulations in other countries, and unprofitability. That may well be, but let’s examine another thought for a moment.

The basic law of supply and demand states that as supply decreases, demand increases. Typically, with an increase in demand, we also see an increase in costs because the market usually supports that. Or put another way, with a decrease in supply we see an increase in demand… and cost.

In recent years there have been a number of drug patents expire which has created an opportunity for more manufacturers, often from countries with lower manufacturing costs, to enter into the generic drug market. In effect, this has created an increase in supply, which has resulted in a decreased demand… and profitability. Good news for the consumer as the prices of generic drugs are usually cheaper. Basically, the more manufacturers there are the less they can charge for a product and the less profit they can make.

Conventional cancer treatment drugs are not cheap and they’re highly profitable. So given that there has been an influx in cheaper generic drugs into the market can we expect to see a similar trend in conventional cancer treatment drugs? Frankly, I doubt it. Think about this for a moment.

The drug companies that manufacture products for cancer treatments related to chemotherapy, radiation, immunotherapy, or in support of surgery are pretty well established in the North American and global markets. And they’ve got their markets fairly well protected in several countries, either by law and/or substantial penetration into the medical universities. Today’s doctors only know what they’re taught. They’re taught to prescribe drugs for the symptoms. They’re not taught to diagnose and treat cancer causes. Nor are they taught a whole lot about nutrition, particularly how it relates to alternative cancer treatments.

It’s not illegal to treat people with alternative cancer treatments but you won’t find any mainstream doctors doing that. They’re taught how to treat cancer symptoms with drugs at the universities. The same universities that are funded by the large pharmaceutical companies for research. The same universities that are regulated in law by what they can teach about cancer treatments. The same universities that are regulated by the same government agencies that approve new drugs for cancer treatments. The same government agencies that are run by people with strong ties to the pharmaceutical industry. The same pharmaceutical companies that have strong lobbying capacity at the federal government level. The same government agencies that regulate the drugs that doctors are allowed to prescribe. Drugs that are manufactured by the same pharmaceutical companies that fund the research at the universities. You get the point. Cancer is a business. A really, really big business.

So I don’t see a cheap influx of generic cancer drugs anytime soon. It’s just not in the financial interests of the large pharmaceutical companies. And they have enough power to keep hold of their markets. So what does that mean to those of you who seek cancer treatments?

One possibility is that the large pharmaceutical companies will keep the prices high on their cancer treatment drugs. They can do that by maintaining control of their markets, much the same way they have for years. Or it’s possible that some smart pharmaceutical company folks will figure out that they can ride the “drug shortage” wave and create artificial demand. Much in the same way that the OPEC nations cut back on the amount of oil they release into the world market to create a demand and drive the price of a barrel up, the pharmaceutical companies could do the same with their cancer drugs.

So if you start to see lots of media attention around drug shortages and rising prices, ask yourself if it’s real or if it’s just a marketing ploy. To my thinking, I’m not so sure I would want my health being controlled by large market forces that are profit driven. So for my own peace of mind, I am researching alternative cancer treatments for a couple of reasons: (1) to understand better what my options would be if I did get cancer; and (2) understand cancer prevention better. You should too…
